Who We Are

HeadStrong is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to supporting young people with Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) and their families. HeadStrong also educates and advocates for TBI prevention.
We help young people living with TBI access support for the best recovery possible, secure a meaningful place in their communities, and live with dignity and respect.

The Board of Directors is comprised of lay people and professionals as well as individuals recovering from TBI. Our Advisory Board is comprised of professionals within key collaborative organizations. The organization currently has no paid positions but is wholly supported by a volunteer corps numbering over 25 participants who donate over 2,000 hours annually. In just three years since our formation in 2006, we have created strong alliances and accomplished significant actions towards our mission of support and healing:

  • Host Headstrong family events – swim and beach parties, BBQs, and musical events.
  • Host monthly caregiver dinners for mothers.
  • Partner with Harborview Medical Center (HMC) for outreach to families through the Harborview/Headstrong Tote Program.
  • Present on Family Centered Care and Communication at HMC.
  • Present our Mentor Program for TBI Recovery at 2008 National Foundation of Women Legislators.
  • Present our Mentor Program at 2009 Washington TBI Resource Coordinator Training.
  • Host the 2009 Workshop for Successful Community Support for TBI with Tim Feeney, Ph.D, Director of New York State Apprentice Program.
  • Attend the 2008 World Congress on Neurorehabilitation.

Sincerely,
Headstrong For Life
